Hello and welcome to Align Counseling! My name is Heather Elson, LPC, CMHC, and Certified Parent Educator (Positive Discipline Assoc.) I have over 15 years of professional experience working with adults, teens, children, and families. As a therapist, it is my goal to provide a space for clients to explore how they can align their mental wellness, personal goals, and lifestyle choices. Its a humbling honor to do what I do, and I cherish the journey of each of my clients.

I utilize art therapy, talk therapy, mindfulness, goal setting, and social support identification to help clients overcome and cope with life’s most difficult moments.

There are no perfect people, there are no perfect families, but there are perfect moments, and I hope you learn to enjoy those moments fully!

In my free time, I enjoy taking my dog Audie swimming, crafting all the things with my daughter, hanging out with my friends/family, or sitting down with a good book.

Adult Therapy- Align your life goals with your lifestyle.

We all desire lives full of tranquility and happiness. At Align, adult clients explore the external and internal obstacles which often block the path to social, emotional, and cognitive wholeness.  Here, personal growth and insight comes by learning to focus on what we can control, and successfully cope with the rest.

Wanting life to be better is a great first step, but it is not enough; actual behavioral changes must occur in order for progress to happen. At Align, clients learn how they can accept their past and future, and focus on what matters most- their choices in the present.

Every. Choice. Counts.

Child Therapy-A positive approach to self-control.

Children are bursting with change- it’s amazing, beautiful, and can also be challenging for kids and their caregivers. Every day presents new opportunities for social and emotional growth. At Align, kids develop emotional intelligence and explore healthy coping skills through art, games, and talk therapy. Identifying emotions also encourages clients to take responsibility for their feelings, thoughts and behaviors- three things they can learn to control. Align Counseling simultaneously supports caregivers, providing guidance to the entire family system.

First connect, then redirect.

Teen Therapy- Mistakes are normal, learn and let go.

Teenage years are some of the most important years of a young person’s life. At this stage of development, individuation occurs- teenagers naturally pull away from their nuclear family unit and connect with their own people; peers can support them on their path to independence, or not, so choose wisely. Align provides a safe, intimate, judgement free space for teens to explore how they can make the best choices in order to become their best selves.

Find your people, find your path, respect everyone.
